Sponsorship
Sponsorship programs are great ways you can bring your loved ones to Canada. If you are 18+ years of age, you can apply for sponsorship programs if you satisfy one or more of the following conditions.
- You are a Canadian citizen
- You are an Indian in Canada registered under the Canadian Indian Act
- You are a Permanent Resident of Canada
Who can you sponsor?
You can sponsor any of the four categories of individuals under this category.
- Spouse
- Dependent Children
- Common-law partner
- Conjugal Partner

Who can you sponsor?
You can sponsor your parents or grandparents (both biological and adopted) to come to live in Canada under the Parents and grandparents sponsorship program.
- Submit one application per couple if they are still legally married
- Submit separate applications for each parent/grandparent who are divorced
- You can include dependent brothers, sisters, half-brothers, half-sisters, step-brothers, and step-sisters in the application
- You can include current spouses, common-law partners, and conjugal partners of your parent(s) and grandparent(s) in the application

Who can you sponsor?
You can sponsor your relatives to come and live in Canada in very specific conditions. Relatives like aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces can be sponsored under this program. There are two categories in which you can support.
- Orphaned relatives
- Other relatives

To be able to apply for adopted child sponsorship, you need to satisfy the below criteria.
- You are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, living in Canada
- You are at least 18 years of age
When it comes to adopted child sponsorship, there are two processes that you need to go through.
- Apply for sponsorship
- Apply for Permanent Residence for the adopted child
Things to keep in mind
- You may be able to apply for sponsorship even before you are matched with the child
- You need to be ready to provide support for the child for ten years or until the child is 25 years old, whichever comes earlier
- The adoption process may be completed inside or outside Canada. In case it happens outside Canada, the process must follow all local laws and regulations
- Adopted children may have to go through medical examinations before they are offered permanent residency
